Oside Update: Ekklesia Church

It was a year ago this August that we moved as a family to Oceanside, California, following God’s call to start a church in this city. To say it has been a year of transition would be an understatement. We have experienced the spectrum of emotions associated with leaving family, friends, a loving community, and moving to a city where we knew no one. But through it all God has been and continues to be very gracious. It has been hard, but over and over we have seen and experienced first hand the awesome power of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the lives of those God has called us to reach, understanding we are “ordinary people called to do extraordinary things with God" -our mission.

Over this past year, we have concentrated almost solely on getting to know people, building relationships and the establishing of deep roots within our community. We have also come to realize that we can’t do this on our own. Partnering with other congregations and people of good
will has become key as we move forward. Partnerships have also become a great entry point for people who are not yet receptive to the Good News, but are willing to join together around something we are both passionate about: our neighborhoods; our kids; and of course the beach. “Through our love and the lives we lead, people will experience hope and be transformed by the knowledge of Jesus Christ” -our purpose.

With that being said, here's where we're at... We now feel the foundation has been laid and God is telling us to trust in Him as we continue His work. Throughout September, we will be gathering (ekklesia: biblical Greek for gathering) friends and neighbors at our house to join us for a meal, share the vision of Ekklesia Church Oceanside and extend the invitation to be part of this Gospel community. Out of these initial meetings, people will be encouraged to participate in our weekly Gospel community gatherings on Sunday evenings from 5pm to 7pm that will center on a meal, scripture message, mission, and prayer. You are always welcome to join us!
As we move forward, please be in prayer for those who God is calling and
“to see the transformation of people, systems and structures with the love of Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit in the City of Oceanside and the world” - our vision.
